I want to point out quite a few things to those that are in tech support with me...especially the useful tips.
- Google is your best friend
Yes, it is most definitely your friend. You will find several documents online that can help you fix your issue.
- YouTube is your second best friend
YouTube will be your second best friend for tutorials, especially if you are taking apart a computer or something that you might not have done before.
- Don't be afraid to ask for help
Over my time as an IT worker, there are some issues that you cannot solve on your own. Do not be afraid to ask a superior or co-worker for some help with a problem. Sometimes, you can find that they will suggest some good ideas!
- Be patient
Technology is a b*tch! Technology often tends to not be on our side...instead, it has its own schedule. Do not get overly frustrated at a problem, especially if you are are working with customers or co-workers.
- Be understanding/translate tech talk into English
Some people around us do not have the same abilities that we have nor do they know much about technology. Be able to simplify the tech garble down for those that do not understand what is causing the problem or how to fix it.
